? The conference room is a great place to meet with conference call capability, computer display to big screen, and internet access. ? Discussion was held about retrieving the ergometers from the boat yard and repairing them. The ergs will be moved to Bryan Fraser’s house so that necessary repairs can be ascertained and accomplished. The tin siding cover for the ergs at the boat yard will be repaired and permanently erected so that the ergs can be safely returned to the boat yard after repairs are made. Chain and shock cord are $36, and is the minimum repair expected for each erg. Plans were made to retrieve the ergs within the week with special permission to cross the blown out culvert being obtained from Lou. ? The group felt an inventory list of all equipment is necessary so that a Memorandum of Understanding can be sent to the YMCA stating that the Shasta Rowing Association, Inc., (SRA) is assuming ownership of the equipment unless they object within 30 days. There is nothing in writing from the YMCA concerning the disposition of the equipment, some of which was donated, some of which the Y purchased and was repaid by membership dues. Reese will prepare the MOU for Lou’s signature. ? It was learned that the Feather River Rowing Club is struggling and may dissolve. It was felt that it would be in the best interest if the SRA obtained its own insurance from USRowing since it is coming due anyway in the next few months. Bryan Fraser will investigate the cost and requirements to obtain insurance. The SRA may need to join USRowing with a club membership. ? The second annual Rowing Bonanza was discussed. Lou has made reservations for the group 1 picnic area for Saturday, May 20. Please mark your calendars. ? Dues structures was discussed. After the meeting, via email, it was decided it would be in the best interest to change the structure so that people join for an entire year regardless of when they join. This is slightly more work for the treasurer since memberships will expire at different times of the year, but it was felt that this provided the best opportunity for the SRA to prosper since many people drop out after a few months anyway. ? The bent rack at the boat yard, from the fallen tree, needs to be bent back into shape. The vespoli 4 at the boat yard needs to be surveyed for any necessary repairs. The equipment inventory for the MOU, the erg retrieval for repairs, the bent rack retrieval (for repair), and vespoli 4 survey can all be done when the ergs are picked up hopefully within the week. ? Concern was expressed that no one has heard from the past/current treasurer Jeff Keller. Lou has left a message on his cell phone. He has the 2016 ledger, and knows who has paid dues and has the waivers from members. It is advised that nobody pay dues until we hear from Jeff. Another treasurer may be necessary depending on what Jeff says when he is finally contacted. As soon as we hear from Jeff, we’ll let everyone know. Lou and Kevin will try to reach him. ? It was decided that a new website, and possibly another URL, is needed. Yvonne Heaney will lead the development of a new SRA website with a link to the existing Whiskeytown Rowing Club website. All felt that a good website was critical to success. Yvonne has experience with web site development, we will be using a WordPress theme. We need good pictures. We’re hopeful we’ll get some good pictures this weekend. The state and federal 501C3 paperwork was submitted last week. If anyone wants to see them, let me know. ? 2 more Directors have volunteered: Kevin Fox and Melanie Dubose. This makes 7 and there’s still room. ? Approval was obtained to hold the monthly meeting at the River Bluff building at 6 PM, NW corner of Hemstead and Knollcrest, Suite 101 (364 Knollcrest). ? Recurring board meeting is currently proposed to be 4th Monday of Every Month. Next meeting January 23 (this coming Monday). ? Melanie Dubose has agreed to work on the McConnell Fund application as we hope the Tax ID number will arrive by the March 8 deadline. ? Director Bryan Fraser still works for the Sac State Aquatic where he is a driver and a certified coach. According to Bryan, there are some used 8s that Sac State wants to get rid of that might be a nice fit for our upcoming rowing season. ? The Whiskeytown boat yard is closed until culvert repairs are completed ? There’s still time to comment on the by-laws and articles of incorporation by the next meeting, as they weren’t required to be submitted with the applications. If you want off this email list, just let me know. Soon the website will post relevant info instead - as we all get too much email. A novice web designer has stepped forward to assist with web development. Reese
